CHRISTINE'S SWEDISH WEAVING
Christine Allan's passion has always evolved around textiles. Christine graduated from LaSalle College in Montreal with a degree in Fashion Design. One of her professors asked her to apply for the Fibers & Textiles teaching position in the Design department and subsequently Christine taught there for several years.
For the past 10 years Christine has owned and operated her own dressmaking business but has now changed her direction with her introduction of Swedish Weaving. She is an importer of the Monk's Cloth fabric as well as a pattern designer and teacher/demonstrator of this wonderful art form. Swedish Weaving was once called Huck Embroidery, this lost art was taught in the schools up to the 1960's. She is bringing this lost art form back to life with a modern twist.
Christine has taught 2 one day Swedish Weaving workshops in the area. Please have a look at the photos on her web site under Links & Events. She has also taught a Swedish Weaving class at the Quilter's Pleasure Weekend in Cornwall and volunteered her time to the local Glengarry Encore Education Centre with several Swedish Weaving classes.
Christine was featured in the Canadian magazine called 'A Needle Pulling Thread' in the Festive Issue 2008 presenting one of her Swedish Weaving ideas.
Christine has always loved working with her hands and Swedish Weaving is another art form that brings her great pleasure. With her demonstrational skills as a teacher, she is able to successfully share her passion with many others.
